This is a continuation of Morpho's Redesign Concept Art - March 2021.
Thank you so much for the feedback! <3 And I would to hear your preferences on these new designs!
Warning: I'm breaking the "Show, Don't Tell" rule of writing in order to discuss certain changes I've made to this character. But at the end of the day, I'm an artist first and a writer second (or thirteenth, I'm not that good xD )
A brief note here before I start this break-down; the last time I had changed Hope's design was...OCTOBER 2019!? Hope was my first character I had produced and to see how much she's changed over the years is frankly...jarring xD
Hope's Markings:
The first thing I changed about Hope's design was her markings. I felt that her original design was too standard. Her main feature being her curled tail; a feature which only she and one other character share. But aside from that, there isn't much else. I messed around with her colour palette as well as using her mother's palette as a guide. When looking at her original design, I noticed her colour scheme didn't suit her. In general, Hope is warm but shy character (emphasis on 'warm'). I found her colour scheme was a collection of cold colours. So I came up with three variations using warmer colours (more on the side of red and not blue). Hope's role in her tribe is lead herbalist; she grows herbs and roots that are converted into medicine. Since she spends most of her time working in the fields, it wouldn't make sense if her pristine white coat were to not become tarnished with dirt. She wasn't born with the brown gradient but earned it through her work. And I thought small change would go a long way in improving her design.
Hope's Flowers:
Although its difficult to see the flowers, I have changed from her usual yellow/orange ones to white/yellow. You can call them daisies but specifically they are chamomile flowers. Chamomiles and daisies are in the same family so they look identical. Chamomile is also used as herb in medicine as well.
